Clarice
Some people are so motivated that their transformation is inspirational. Clarice is such a person. She did not have the time or the money to fiddle around with back pain. It had already stopped her from driving, doing housework and even teaching her children in home school.
Clarice came to me in January 1996 with a history of back and leg pain. Her problems began in June 1995, and now, she said, "I am unable to do anything." She was 45 years old, had seen a slew of medical professionals but had had no relief.
She had sciatic-related pain and her pelvis had rotated to create a "flat back," which means no lumbar curve. This caused her center of gravity to be off and for most of her weight to be thrown over her toes. This put an undue amount of stress on segments of her spine, especially the lower back area. It also caused her to have an abnormal forward head posture. She had scoliosis as well. While it was not severe, it contributed to her problems. Many of her joints had lost their sense of "awareness" of how to move.
Because of that, she had a very difficult time learning to move naturally again. The first picture was taken on February 2, 1996, on her first visit. The second picture was taken three weeks later after two visits and six Body Balance classes. Notice how by simply moving her pelvis and leg bones into a position that carried more weight properly, her excessive spinal curves decreased.
This chain of responses along the spine helps prove the body was meant to be that way. Once her lower body alignment changed, her forward head position naturally decreased. Her weight is now distributed more in her heels which allows healthier movement.
She was able to drive and do basic activities again. Within the next couple of months she was functioning normally. Christmas 1998, I received a letter from Clarice telling me how good she felt. She was one inch taller than at her last doctor's visit in June! She said she could now garden, cook, drive and do anything she wanted. "Good health," she said, "was like money in the bank."
